Garden Diary - 12th May 2012

The Cool Bed

The star attraction in my garden at present is Allium - looks amazing and is definitely a bulb I shall be buying more of in the autumn.

I am still loving my delicate Aqualigias and I'm so glad they were still buried in my garden in all the colours I remember. (If you haven't read earlier blog posts, I have reclaimed my garden bed after years of being trashed by footballs and dug over to keep the weeds down!)

I love my shady woodland area - this sounds a lot grander than it is - I have one tree a silver birch - which provides a fabulous canopy for a shady area of the cool bed.

I am very pleased with Geranium Clarkei - it didn't flower last year because I bought it in the summer but it looks fab now.

The cool bed theme is really coming along now - once the wall flowers have finished it will be entirely, pink, purple, white, blue and of course green! I have Delphiniums, Lupins, Penstemons, Campanulas and Phlox all biding their time before they burst into glorious cool colours.

Here are some lovely "Bee" pics followed by budding Nigella and Daisies.

Lastly - in my yet to finish off area I have a mystery plant grown next to my giant rocket! Does anyone know what this is?

  1. I am in awe at your garden! My dream is to have borders filled with colour and interest so I never have to weed them again!

I really appreciate it if you can take time to comment - I love to read other people's thoughts and ideas.
Take care x
