Crochet Notes - Violet Dahlia Cushion

Yarn:
DK - Stylecraft Life
4 ply - sock yarn doubled
cotton sewing thread

Hook:
3.75mm

Cushion:
55cm cushion (Dunelm Mill £9.99)

Pattern Notes:

  • I always start each round with 3 chain to represent the first treble and I always finish each round with a slip st into the top of the 3 chain.
  • I did the popcorn st by doing 4 trebles and then taking the loop off the hook, putting in the top of the first treble - then back into the loop and pull it through the first treble.

Small Squares (12) :

(Based on the pattern Popping Flower 6 inch square by Amanda Wheeldon)

  • Using 4 ply - 4 chain - slip st to form a ring.
  • R1 = 12 trebles.
  • R2 = 2 trebles into each of the twelve spaces.
  • R3 = 4 treble popcorn st into each of the twelve spaces, 3 chain in between each popcorn st..
  • R4 = Change to DK - Corners 3 treble, 2 chain, 3 treble - 3 treble into each 3 chain space.
  • R5 = Corners 3 treble, 2 chain, 3 treble - 1 treble 1 chain into alternate spaces between stitches.
  • R6 = Corners 3 treble, 2 chain, 3 treble - 2 trebles into each 1 chain space.

Centre Square:
  • Using doubled 4 ply - 4 chain - slip st to form a ring.
  • R1 = 12 trebles.
  • R2 = 2 trebles into each of the twelve spaces.
  • R3 = 4 treble popcorn st into each of the twelve spaces, 3 chain in between each popcorn st..
  • R4 = 4 treble popcorn st into each space and the top of each popcorn bobble from R3 - 3 chain in between popcorn st. (24 bobbles).
  • R5 = Change to DK - Corners 3 treble, 2 chain, 3 treble - 3 trebles into each 3 chain space.
  • R6 = Corners 3 treble, 2 chain, 3 treble - 1 treble 1 chain into alternate spaces between stitches.
  • R7 = Corners 3 treble, 2 chain, 3 treble - 2 trebles into each 1 chain space.
  • R8 = change back to 4 ply - Corners 3 treble, 2 chain, 3 treble - 1 treble 1 chain into alternate spaces between stitches.
  • R9 = Corners 3 treble, 2 chain, 3 treble - 3 trebles into each 1 chain space.
  • R10 = Corners 3 treble, 2 chain, 3 treble - 2 trebles into each space between clusters.
