Out and About - Gdansk Poland

I was lucky enough to go to Gdansk in Poland for a weekend trip.

From the shipyard to the fabulous architecture - new and old - I loved the trip. So much History and an inspirational trip along the road to democracy with the story of Solidarity.

We stayed the at the Neptun Aparthotel - which was fantastic - brand new and very friendly, with a view over St Mary's Church. Breakfast was provided too and it was a very nice buffet.

There was a sprinkling of snow and a great Baltic breeze. If you get the chance go and have a fab time.

We flew from Stansted on Ryan Air - the flight was less than 2 hours and we got cabs to and from the hotel (less than £20 each way).

Mariacka Street - good for buying Amber.

Snowy Saturday morning.

Mistletoe in the trees.

Monument to the 48 fallen shipyard workers in 1970

Medieval Crane - worth a visit inside.

Gdansk was destroyed in the Second World War.

Marching in the 21st Century - I think it was about a need for improved leisure facilities.

Pretty buildings everywhere.

New buildings - a new take on an old style - I loved this redevelopment.
