Loved this pattern when I saw it in The Knitter, Issue 71.
I had some yarn left over form other projects and I picked up the Sirdar Ella in a bargain bucket for £1.60 a ball. The pattern calls for 8 colours but I decided to double up in the purple and only use 7.
A = Purple - King Cole Giza
B = Lilac - Sirdar Ella
C = Pale Blue - Sirdar Ella
D = Turquoise - Bergere Estivale
E = Dark Blue - Sirdar Ella
F = Green - Adriafil Giada
G = Denim Blue - Sirdar Calico
H = Purple - King Cole Giza
Here is the order:
These yarns are thicker than the pattern so I did a smaller than usual size on 3.25mm for the 1x1rib and 4mm for the body.
Length = 62cm
Chest = 120cm
Length to arm = 33cm
For the rib I cast on 109sts and did 10cm in 1x1 rib.
On the last row I increased to 121sts which was the 2nd size.
I did the pattern for 29cm - then began the increases. One pattern repeat + 14 rows
I did the divide for back neck at three pattern repeats + 10 rows.
I followed the pattern for the shaping.
Same but I did the front divide at two pattern repeats + 30 rows.
10 down each side at the back and 55 along the middle back.
20 down each side at the front and 45 along the middle front.
This gave me 170sts - much more than required by the pattern.
I used a circular needle and did decreases at the seams between back and front on rows 3 to 13.
I did this by decreasing 2sts at each seam = 4 a row.
Then knit 1 row in 1x1 and cast off.
Pick up 53 down each side with a circular needle = 106sts.
2cm rib 1x1
I hardly used any yarn at all - I could make another out of what is left!
|Here is my version of Eldora - I called it Wizadora:) I love it.|
